2 Shot at Philly Super Bowl Parade Celebration

Two women have been shot during the Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl Parade festivities as one million fans descended on the city to celebrate.

Shots rang out as the Eagles took to the Philadelphia streets to share their victory with their hometown on Friday.

Gunfire rang out just before 2:30 pm on Friday.

On the live video stream of the parade, cops could be seen swarming to the area of the shooting about 1,000 feet from the celebration’s stage.

Both victims, ages 20 and 27, were shot in the leg, according to local ABC affiliate WHTM.

One woman was shot in the left leg while the other was struck in the upper left thigh, the outlet reported. The two women are reportedly in stable condition.

Police are still searching for a suspect and have not yet made any arrests.

Ambulances had trouble getting to the area because of the massive crowds, according to witness accounts posted on Citizen.

Over a million fans were expected to attend the parade on Friday.

The crowd was already rowdy after someone reportedly chucked a beer can at the Eagles general manager’s head.

General Manager Howie Roseman was seen bleeding from his head at the parade and told fans, “I bleed for this city.”

An Eagles fan was also arrested and escorted away from the festivities by Pennsylvania State Troopers after a fight broke out.

Other paradegoers were seen climbing up light poles and structures around the city, despite explicit warnings from Mayor Cherelle Parker asking fans to stay on the ground.

The Eagles beat out the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 during the Super Bowl on February 9, prompting excited crowds to take to the city streets.

However, at least two people were killed and 40 shots rang out on the streets during the riots in the hours after the massive victory.

Fans set fires, got in fights, and climbed on top of cop cars as they couldn’t contain their excitement after the big win.

City officials hoped the chaos would calm down before Friday’s event.

“The parade route has been thoughtfully planned for the safety and security of all attendees,” the City of Philadelphia said in a statement.

“With large crowds expected, we ask everyone to celebrate responsibly and respectfully, making this a moment Philadelphia can be proud of.”

One-Year Anniversary of Tragedy

Cops and city officials took extra precautions to keep parade attendees safe this year – especially after last year’s Super Bowl celebration brought tragedy to Kansas City.

On February 14, 2024, one person was killed and 21 were injured near a parade route where fans celebrated the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2024 Super Bowl win.

Local radio DJ and mom-of-two Lisa Lopez Galvan was killed in the mass shooting.

Dominic Miller will face trial in 2026 on four charges including second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon.

Two other men involved – Lyndell Mays and Terry Young – will stand trial later this year.

The violence led the team to announce they wouldn’t hold a victory parade if they won this year.
