Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis responded on Wednesday after former President Donald Trump suggested he was guilty of “grooming” teen girls.
“I face defamatory stuff every single day I’ve been governor, that’s just the nature of it,” DeSantis said. “I’d also just say this. I spend my time delivering results for the people of Florida and fighting against Joe Biden.”
“That’s how I spend my time,” DeSantis continued as the audience erupted in cheers. “I don’t spend my time trying to smear other Republicans.”

Trump promoted a post that showed a grainy photograph of someone alleged to be DeSantis standing next to several women at a party who appear to be roughly the same age.
“Here is Ron DeSanctimonious grooming high school girls with alcohol as a teacher,” the post claimed.
Trump promoted the post on his social media channel, writing: “That’s not Ron, is it? He would never do such a thing!”
The New York Times previously reported that the photo was published by a blog run by a Democrat super PAC and that two former female students said parties that DeSantis attended “took place after” they had graduated.
Late last month, Trump, in a series of comments to reporters and in social media posts, claimed credit for DeSantis’ success, called him a “globalist” who would be “very disloyal” to mount a 2024 presidential bid, and sought once again to stick DeSantis with the Trumpian moniker “Ron DeSanctimonius.” But the Sunshine State governor appeared unfazed by the attacks.
Trump has also attacked DeSantis’ response to the coronavirus pandemic even though most Republicans look at Florida as the model for success in promoting freedom and beating back government control over people’s lives.
“Ron DeSanctimonious” did “FAR WORSE than many other Republican governors, including that he unapologetically shut down Florida,” Trump claimed in one social media post.
Trump’s harsh treatment of DeSantis on his handling of the pandemic was a dramatic departure from previous remarks. During a press conference on March 31, 2020, Trump called DeSantis a “great governor” who “knows exactly what he’s doing” in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
DeSantis responded to Trump’s attacks at the end of the month by saying that voters are the ones to render a judgment on how politicians are performing their jobs.
“I roll out of bed, I have people attacking me from all angles. It’s been happening for many, many years,” DeSantis said, adding that “in a crisis situation like COVID, the good thing about it is when you’re an elected executive, you have to make all kinds of decisions, you’ve got to steer that ship.”
“And the good thing is, is that the people are able to render a judgment on that, whether they reelect you or not,” DeSantis said. “And I’m happy to say, you know, in my case, not only did we win re-election, we won with the highest percentage of the vote that any Republican governor candidate has in the history of the state of Florida.”
“We won by the largest raw vote margin, over 1.5 million votes, than any governor candidate has ever had in Florida history. And in fact, we almost doubled the previous record, which I think was like 780,000 vote margin,” DeSantis added. “And so what I would just say is, that verdict has been rendered by the people of the state of Florida.”

Trans Activists Storm Kentucky Capitol to Protest Law Prohibiting Child Sex Changes, Several Arrested

Hundreds of protesters descended on the Kentucky State Capitol on Wednesday as Republican lawmakers enacted a sweeping ban on sex changes for minors after overriding the veto of the Democratic governor.
Under Senate Bill 150, doctors are prohibited from providing hormone therapy or other gender-affirming treatments to anyone under the age of 18.
The legislation was passed by the Republican-controlled legislature last month, but Democratic Governor Andy Beshear vetoed the bill, calling it an attack on the transgender community.

According to the Courier-Journal, hundreds of teens joined other activists from across Kentucky in the State Capitol in Frankfort to oppose the bill.
Kentucky State Police removed several protesters who refused to remain silent during the proceedings in the House of Representatives as lawmakers discussed overturning Governor Andy Beshear’s veto of SB 150. Some of the protesters locked arms and chanted “trans kids are under attack.” According to the outlet, they were also removed and arrested.

The Senate overrode Beshear’s veto in a 29 to 8 vote and the veto was then overridden in the House by a vote of 76 to 23.
A few of the protesters were seen weeping in response to the override vote while others chanted “vote them out” and yelled “shame.”
Supporters of SB 150 were also present at the Capitol during the proceedings on Wednesday.
Following the veto, Beshear said in a statement to the media that parents should have the right to make important medical decisions for their children, rather than having those decisions dictated by the government. “At the end of the day, this is about my belief — and, I think, the belief of the majority of Kentuckians — that parents should get to make important medical decisions about their children, not big government.”

Two Military Helicopters Crash in Kentucky — Multiple People Killed

Several people are feared dead after two Black Hawk helicopters crashed in mid-air.
Emergency services raced to the scene near the Fort Campbell military base in Trigg County, Kentucky, shortly after 10pm on Wednesday.
Authorities said two 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) helicopters had crashed during a routine training mission, with local radio station WKDZ Radio reporting “several people killed.”
The crewmembers were flying two HH60 Black Hawk helicopters, according to officials.
It’s not known how many people were on board the helicopters.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has warned that “fatalities are expected.”
Fort Campbell officials have not confirmed any deaths.
They said: “The status of the crew members are unknown at this time.
“The command is currently focused on caring for the servicemembers and their families.”
First responders raced to the scene after the helicopters crashed to the ground.
An eyewitness told WKDZ that he heard “a pop” and “two booms” from his home, located a half mile away from the crash site.
There was light to no wind in the area at the time of the crash.
Officials have not revealed what caused the helicopter crash amid the ongoing investigation.
Several helicopters have been flying across the area in recent nights, reports say.
Fort Campbell is an active U.S. Army installation located on the Kentucky/Tennessee border.
The military base is located 60 miles northwest of Nashville.
Black Hawk HH-60s are versatile combat service helicopters.
The twin-engined crafts are used to conduct medical evacuations, air assault missions as well as special operations, according to the Army.
An HH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter can reach maximum speeds of 223mph (360kph) and can carry between eight to 12 troops.
The crash comes just a month after a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter slammed onto a highway in Alabama.
Two crew members from the Tennessee National Guard were killed in the incident.

Russia Arrests American Journalist and Accuses Him of Espionage

Russia’s top security agency arrested an American reporter for the Wall Street Journal on espionage charges, the first time a U.S. correspondent was put behind bars on spying accusations since the Cold War. The newspaper denied the allegations against Evan Gershkovich.
The Federal Security Service said Thursday that Gershkovich was detained in the Ural Mountains city of Yekaterinburg while allegedly trying to obtain classified information.
The FSB, which is the top successor agency to the Soviet-era KGB, alleged that Gershkovich “was acting on the U.S. orders to collect information about the activities of one of the enterprises of the Russian military industrial complex that constitutes a state secret.”
“The Wall Street Journal vehemently denies the allegations from the FSB and seeks the immediate release of our trusted and dedicated reporter, Evan Gershkovich,” the newspaper said. “We stand in solidarity with Evan and his family.”
The arrest comes amid bitter tensions between the West and Moscow over its war in Ukraine and as the Kremlin intensifies its crackdown on opposition activists, independent journalists and civil society groups. The broad government campaign of repression hasn’t been seen since the Soviet era.
Earlier this week, a Russian court convicted a single father over social media posts critical of the war in Ukraine and sentenced him to two years in prison while his 13-year-old daughter was sent to an orphanage.
Gershkovich is the first American reporter to be arrested on espionage charges in Russia since September 1986, when Nicholas Daniloff, a Moscow correspondent for U.S. News and World Report, was arrested by the KGB. He was released without charges 20 days later in a swap for an employee of the Soviet Union’s United Nations mission who was arrested by the FBI.
The FSB didn’t say when the arrest took place. Gershkovich, who covers Russia, Ukraine and other ex-Soviet nations as a correspondent in the Wall Street Journal’s Moscow bureau, could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted of espionage.
The FSB noted that he had accreditation from the Russian Foreign Ministry to work as a journalist, but ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Gershkovich was using his journalistic credentials as a cover for “activities that have nothing to do with journalism.”
Gershkovich speaks fluent Russian and had previously worked for the French agency Agence France-Presse and The New York Times. His last report from Moscow, published earlier this week, focused on the Russian economy’s slowdown amid Western sanctions imposed when Russian troops invaded Ukraine last year.
Gershkovich’s arrest follows a swap in December, in which WNBA star Brittney Griner was freed after 10 months behind bars in exchange for Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout.
Another American, Paul Whelan, a Michigan corporate security executive, has been imprisoned in Russia since December 2018 on espionage charges that his family and the U.S. government have said are baseless.
Jeanne Cavelier, head of Eastern Europe and Central Asia desk at the Paris-based press freedom group Reporters Without Borders, said Gershkovich was the first foreign journalist who was arrested in Russia since the start of the war in Ukraine.
“It looks like a retaliation measure of Russia against the United States, so we are very alarmed because it is probably a way to intimidate all Western journalists that are trying to investigate aspects of the war on the ground in Russia,” Cavelier she told The Associated Press. “The Western powers should immediately ask for clarifications on the charges, because as far as we know he was just doing his job as a journalist.”
Russian journalist Dmitry Kolezev said on the messaging app Telegram that he spoke to Gershkovich before his trip to Yekaterinburg.
“He was preparing for the usual, albeit rather dangerous in current conditions, journalist work,” Kolezev wrote. He said Gershkovich asked him for the contacts of local journalists and officials in the area as he prepared to arrange interviews.

New Texts Show Tucker Carlson Unleashed on Sydney Powell: ‘Crazy Person’

A trove of new messages from inside Fox News in the aftermath of the 2020 election were made public Wednesday as part of Dominion Voting System’s $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against the network.
Messages show the extent to which Fox News host Tucker Carlson unleashed on Sydney Powell claims about the election.
“Sidney Powell is lying,” Carlson said in one message that was previously reported. “Fucking bitch.”
“She’s a psychopath. She’s getting Trump all spun up and has zero evidence,” an unknown Fox News staffer replied.
“Fucking bitch,” Carlson added. “Crazy person.”
Fox News responded to the new revelations: “These documents once again demonstrate Dominion’s continued reliance on cherry-picked quotes without context to generate headlines in order to distract from the facts of this case. The foundational right to a free press is at stake and we will continue to fiercely advocate for the First Amendment in protecting the role of news organizations to cover the news.”

Police Chief Reveals Trans Shooter Had Another Target — and The Reason Why She Didn’t Follow Through

Nashville Police Chief John Drake made an interesting disclosure on Monday about the plans of the perpetrator of the Covenant School massacre.
At a press conference, Drake said that investigators had discovered the perpetrator had planned to attack another location, but decided against that location because it had significant security.
“There was another location that was mentioned, but because of a threat assessment by the suspect of too much security, they decided not to,” Drake said. “That area was here in Nashville, so we’re continuing with that investigation as well.”
Drake confirmed the perpetrator had written a manifesto that explained why she conducted the attack, which included detailed plans. That is presumably the source of law enforcement’s theory that the perpetrator skipped her first targeted location because of “too much security.”
The admission is significant because, at least on an anecdotal level, it confirms that increased security measures, such as armed personnel, make potential targets “hard” and not “soft.” Advocates of armed security argue that “hard targets,” as opposed to “soft targets,” deter individuals bent on violence who wish to carry out an attack.
One of those locations may have been a local mall, Drake said on Tuesday.
“We strongly believe there was going to be some other targets, including maybe family members, and one of the malls here in Nashville,” Drake told CBS News. “And that just did not happen.”
Whether the mall was the location the perpetrator initially wanted to attack is not yet known. Malls are harder targets because many citizens are legally armed for self-protection. Just last month, a massacre was averted in El Paso when a teenager opened fire inside the mall. And last year, an armed citizen shot dead a person who opened fire inside an Indiana mall food court.
Schools, on the other hand, are generally “soft targets,” where firearms are not permitted.
Police do not believe that any of the victims of Monday’s atrocity were targeted specifically. Rather, the location was targeted. Drake told CBS News that the perpetrator may have resented having been sent to the school when she was younger.

RESTRICT Act Is Orwellian Censorship Grab Disguised As Anti-TikTok Legislation

The outrage over the draconian RESTRICT Act, marketed to the public as a “TikTok ban,” is rapidly rising.
The bill has been revealed as something far more expansive that a mere TikTok ban. It grants sweeping powers to the federal government to restrict the online activities of Americans, imposing heavy penalties on any citizen who circumvents it, including criminal fines of up to $1 million, jail sentences of up to 20 years, and the seizure and search of hardware and online accounts, including cryptocurrency accounts.
Fox News host Tucker Carlson eviscerated the bill in a segment this week, saying: “This bill isn’t about banning TikTok. It’s never about what they say it is. Instead, this bill would give enormous and terrifying new powers to the federal government to punish American citizens and regulate how they communicate with one another.”

“So you would be allowing the executive branch — the Biden administration — to regulate speech on the internet. And if you are somehow involved with, quote, a foreign adversary — let’s say you oppose the war against Russia — you go to prison for 20 years.”
“So, this isn’t about banning TikTok. This is about introducing flat-out totalitarianism into our system. Now, just because TikTok is so unappealing… that does not mean that the people trying to ban TikTok have your interests in mind.”
Donald Trump Jr., also slammed the bill.
“The uniparty wants more power to control what we do and see,” said Don Jr. in a post on Twitter. “And now we’re going to give the Biden goons the ability to throw us in jail for 20 years if they decide we’re in violation of this craziness? No thanks.”

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has come out against the bill. In an article for the Louisville Courier-Journal, the Senator and former presidential candidate said the bill would make America more like China.
“To those who are worried that the Chinese government might somehow now have access to millions of American teenagers’ information, realize that all social media sucks up personal data that people voluntarily provide,” wrote Sen. Paul. “If you’re going to ban TikTok, what’s next? Arguably, several domestic apps censor conservatives more.”
House Republicans on the Financial Services Committee also came out against the RESTRICT Act, calling it a “smokescreen for the largest expansion of executive power since the IEEPA [International Emergency Economic Powers Act].”
“The U.S. can’t beat China by becoming more like the Chinese Communist Party.”

Pope Hospitalized for Easter? Difficulty Breathing

Pope Francis spent a calm night in hospital after being admitted for a respiratory infection and is expected to remain there for a few days for treatment, a Vatican source has said.
Italian news agency Ansa reported nurses were optimistic he would be out of hospital in time for Palm Sunday this weekend.
It added tests had ruled out heart problems and pneumonia.
The 86-year-old pontiff entered hospital on Wednesday.
In a statement, the Vatican said said Pope Francis had a respiratory infection and would need to remain there for a few days.
The 86-year-old has had breathing difficulties in recent days, but does not have Covid, its statement said.
“Pope Francis is touched by the many messages received and expresses his gratitude for the closeness and prayer,” the statement added.
His closest staff, including security, spent the night at the Gemelli Hospital, a person with direct knowledge told the BBC.
This is the busiest time of the year for Pope Francis, with many events and services scheduled ahead of Easter weekend.
A Palm Sunday Mass is scheduled this weekend, with Holy Week and Easter celebrations next week.
He is also scheduled to visit Hungary at the end of April.
On Wednesday morning, he presided over his weekly general audience in St Peter’s Square. He appeared in good spirits, but was seen grimacing as he was helped into his vehicle.
The Vatican initially said the Pope had gone to hospital for a previously scheduled check-up, but Italian media questioned this account after a television interview was cancelled at short notice.
Reacting to the news, President Joe Biden asked people to make an “extra prayer” for the Pope’s recovery.
Mr Biden, who is only the second Roman Catholic to be elected leader of the US, also described the pontiff as one of the “most Christ-like figures I’ve ever met”.
People in the Pope’s home city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, shared their feelings with Reuters news agency. One man, Daniel Saco, said the pontiff “must ask himself whether he can continue”.
“It is very sad because, as a Latin American, I feel represented by this Pope, who is very open-minded and human,” said Victoria Veira, who is originally from Brazil.
Anibal Pizelle, who met the Pope when he was bishop of Buenos Aires, said she was optimistic for a recovery as Francis was “physically and mentally strong” and a “person with enormous faith”.
The Pope has used a wheelchair in recent months because of mobility problems related to his knee.
He also underwent surgery to treat a colon problem in 2021. In January, he said the condition had returned.
Despite his ailments, the Pope has remained active and has undertaken trips abroad. He visited the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan in February.
In January, the Pope led the funeral of his predecessor Pope Benedict XVI – who was the first pope to step down voluntarily for centuries. He said this was due to ill health.
Pope Francis has previously indicated that he may also wish to follow in Benedict’s footsteps in the event that his health deteriorates.
Pope’s schedule over Easter
- 2 April, Palm Sunday: 09:30 (7:30 GMT) Papal Mass, 12:00 Sunday Blessing
- 5 April: 09:00 Papal General Audience

Virginia Stands Up for Kids: No More Gender Transitions for Minors

West Virginia Republican Gov. Jim Justice on Wednesday signed a bill banning gender-affirming care for minors, joining at least 10 other states that have enacted laws restricting or outlawing medically supported treatments for transgender youth.
The bill outlaws those under 18 from being prescribed hormone therapy and fully reversible puberty blockers. It also bans minors from receiving gender-affirming surgery.
Unlike measures passed in other states, however, West Virginia’s law contains a unique exemption: It permits doctors to prescribe medical therapy if a teenager is considered at risk for self-harm or suicide.
Under the law, which will take effect in January 2024, a patient can be prescribed puberty blockers and hormone therapy after receiving parental consent and a diagnosis of severe gender dysphoria from two clinicians, including a mental health provider or an adolescent medicine specialist.
Both practitioners must be trained to diagnose and treat young people with severe gender dysphoria and provide written testimony that medical interventions are necessary to prevent or limit possible or actual self-harm.
The provisions were added at the urging of Senate Majority Leader Tom Takubo, who is a physician.
“These kids struggle. They have incredible difficulties,” the Republican said on the Senate floor earlier this month.
Takubo cited more than a dozen peer-reviewed studies showing a decrease in rates of suicide ideation and attempts among youth with severe gender dysphoria who had access to medication therapy.
Gender dysphoria is defined by medical professionals as severe psychological distress experienced by those whose gender identity differs from the sex assigned at birth.
The bill also prohibits minors from being prescribed hormone therapy before the age of puberty.
The medication dosage for any adolescent must be the lowest possible necessary to “treat the psychiatric condition and not for purposes of gender alteration,” according to the bill.
At least 11 states have now enacted laws restricting or banning gender-affirming care for minors: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Georgia, Iowa, Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee, Utah, South Dakota and West Virginia.
Federal judges have blocked enforcement of laws in Alabama and Arkansas, and nearly two dozen states are considering bills this year to restrict or ban care.

Alvin Bragg Grand Jury Is Done for Next Month — No Indictment for at Least 30 Days

The Manhattan grand jury deciding whether or not to indict former President Donald Trump will break for another month, delaying the sluggish case even further.
Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg had referred the case to a grand jury earlier this month in the hope of indicting Trump on campaign finance violations.
They have been tasked with considering whether Trump broke the law when his attorney Michael Cohen gave $130,000 to porn star Stormy Daniels to keep quiet about claims she had slept with Trump in 2016.
It was supposed to remain a secret, allowing the jurors to consider the evidence in privacy.
The grand jury normally meets on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
But they are not meeting today and tomorrow, they will hear details on another case.
They won’t hear evidence on Trump’s case tomorrow, either, then the jury will go on a scheduled ‘hiatus’ that has been planned since January.
The Manhattan DA’s Office did not immediately respond to inquiries on Wednesday afternoon.
Earlier, he delayed the jurors for taking their time, writing on Truth Social: ‘I have gained such respect for this grand jury, and perhaps even the grand jury system as a whole.
‘The evidence is so overwhelming in my favor, and so ridiculously bad for the highly partisan and hateful district attorney, that the grand jury is saying, hold on, we are not a rubber stamp, which most grand juries are branded as being, we are not going to vote against a preponderance of evidence or against large numbers of legal scholars all saying there is no case here.
‘Drop this sick witch hunt, now!’
Republicans have slammed the prosecution, many of which think will only help Trump’s campaign and will never lead to a conviction.
‘The way it comes across is very political. Like this guy is a very political guy. It is just, it appears to be not fair. They don’t put out good information on it.
‘That’s why I always say about law enforcement: tell people what’s going on. Don’t be a black hole. Give people good information, so people don’t think badly,’ Sen. Rick Scott told DailyMail.com on Wednesday, shortly after the delay was announced.

Katie Hobbs Spokeswoman Resigns After Tweet Suggesting ‘Transphobes’ Should Be Shot

Josselyn Berry, press secretary for Democratic Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs, has resigned after posting an inflammatory tweet suggesting “transphobes” should be gunned down in the wake of a woman who identified as transgender killing six people at a Christian school in Nashville.
Local Arizona media reported that Berry’s resignation came after she faced pressure from those close to her and from other lawmakers.
The GIF, taken from the 1980 film “Gloria,” tweeted by Berry showed actress Gena Rowlands wielding two pistols and was captioned “Us when we see transphobes.” It was posted Monday, even as the nation mourned the murders of three 9-year-old children and three adults, killed at the Presbyterian-run Covenant School in Music City by a 28-year-old woman who was then killed by heroic police.
“Less than 12 hours after the tragic shooting in Nashville by a deranged transgender activist, Katie Hobbs’s Press Secretary calls for shooting people Democrats disagree with,” the Arizona Freedom Caucus said in a statement. “Calling for violence like this is un-American & never acceptable. Josselyn Berry should be fired immediately.”

Michael Knowles Suspended from Twitter After Posting Bible Verse in Response to Nashville School Shooting

Daily Wire host Michael Knowles was suspended from Twitter after he posted a Bible verse in response to the Monday shooting at The Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee.
Knowles appears to have been impacted by a widespread Twitter crackdown against conservative accounts criticizing or simply alluding to the Trans Radical Activist Network’s recent call for a “Day of Vengeance” on Saturday, April 1, mere days after the attack in Nashville. Trans Radical Activist Network meanwhile retains access to its account on the platform.
Knowles linked on Twitter to a Daily Wire article about the “Day of Vengeance” and included a reference to Romans 12:19, in which the apostle Paul exhorts Christians to refrain from taking personal vengeance: “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, ‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.’”
Twitter’s reprimand against the post, a screenshot of which was shared on Tuesday evening by fellow Daily Wire host Matt Walsh, told Knowles to delete the post and said that the platform does not permit users to “share abusive content, harass someone, or encourage other people to do so.” Knowles was provided with a button through which he could delete the post.
Walsh tagged Elon Musk, the new owner and chief executive of Twitter, and noted that Knowles was “suspended for posting a Bible verse.”

Twitter accounts belonging to Daily Wire News, Federalist CEO Sean Davis, and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) have all been suspended from the platform in recent days for what appear to be similar mentions of the “Day of Vengeance.” Twitter shared the same reprimand received by Knowles with Daily Wire News.
Police confirmed that a 28-year-old woman who identified as transgender killed three 9-year-old children and three adults on Monday at The Covenant School, which is associated with the conservative evangelical Covenant Presbyterian Church. Authorities revealed that the shooter, who will not be named in accordance with Daily Wire policy, executed a “targeted attack” and left behind a “manifesto.”
The action against Knowles and the other accounts comes shortly after Daily Wire investigative reporter Luke Rosiak was likewise suspended from Twitter after he posted a link to his original story about the “Day of Vengeance.” Rosiak was also the author of the subsequent article that Knowles shared.
Rosiak, who said he has been on Twitter for 13 years but has “never had a single strike,” received the same warning about the platform not allowing users to “share abusive content, harass someone, or encourage other people to do so.” He was told that he must delete the original post to regain access to his account and appealed the decision.
“The activists, which describe their ‘Day of Vengeance’ alongside references to Molotov cocktails and specifically mentioned Tennessee, advertised this event on Twitter itself, and their accounts have not been banned,” Rosiak told The Daily Wire on Tuesday in reaction to his suspension. “Are trans activists mass-reporting factual tweets to prevent the public from learning about their actions, and does Elon Musk’s system allow organized groups of leftists to game it that way?”
Musk assumed control of Twitter last year in a professed bid to restore free speech to the platform. On the other hand, he has indicated a willingness to censor what he deems to be extreme content posted by those he considers far-Right and far-Left.
Knowles, a popular author, commentator, and podcast host, and Rosiak, who broke the bombshell story about school officials in Loudoun County, Virginia, attempting to conceal a sexual assault in a women’s bathroom perpetrated by a boy allegedly wearing a skirt, are indeed two of several conservatives to be suspended from Twitter under the company’s new management. Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) and Sen. Steve Daines (R-MT) each briefly lost access to their account in recent weeks.

‘Trans Day of Vengeance’ Will Go Ahead at Supreme Court Despite Christian School Shooting

An activist group is due to hold a ‘Trans Day of Vengeance’ demonstration outside the Supreme Court on Saturday, warning against ‘astronomical amounts of hate from the world’ and following the horrifying Nashville shooting which left seven dead on Monday.
The Trans Radical Activist Network (TRAN) will host the event in Washington D.C. from 31 March until 2 April, starting Friday and marching on the Supreme Court at 11am on Saturday. On their website they cite Gender Affirming care ban bills and the political climate as motives for the demonstration.
But commentators are up in arms over the decision to go ahead with the protest as police say they are investigating the role of Nashville shooter Audrey Hale’s gender identity and a sense of ‘resentment’ that may have inspired the attack on the shooter’s Christian former school.
Republican firebrand Marjorie Taylor Greene yesterday demanded her Twitter account be restored after features were limited for violating rules.
She said: ‘My Congressional account was suspended for 7 days for exposing Antifa, who are organizing a call for violence called “Trans Day of Vengeance.”
‘The day after the mass murder of children by a trans shooter. Restore my account immediately.’
Ian Miles Cheong wrote that ‘Twitter is now cracking down on those who promote the “Trans Day of Vengeance” poster, which mostly comprises of trans militants who are calling for a day of mass violence.’
Twitter’s Trust and Safety lead, Ella Irwin, responded: ‘Correct. We had to automatically sweep our platform and remove >5000 tweets/retweets of this poster.
‘We do not support tweets that incite violence irrespective of who posts them.
‘”Vengeance” does not imply peaceful protest. Organizing or support for peaceful protests is ok.’
TRAN has stated on their website: ‘This protest is about unity, not inciting violence. TRAN does not encourage violence and it is not welcome at this event.’
It is unclear whether Hale was associated with the movement.
Audrey Elizabeth Hale opened fire at The Covenant School, shooting and killing six people on Monday.
The shooter was armed with two assault-style rifles and a handgun.
They killed three children, the Head of School, 60, a custodian and a substitute teacher, both 61.
Victims Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs and William Kinney were all aged nine.
Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) officers Rex Englebert and Michael Collazo shot and killed Hale on the second floor of the school.
Police are investigating possible motives for the attack.
MNPD Police Chief John Drake said that ‘resentment’ towards having been made to go to the school may have played a role in the shooting, but also that Hale ‘targeted random students in the school… whoever she came in contact with, she fired rounds.’
Drake added that officials believe ‘that [Hale] identifies as trans, but we’re still in the initial investigation into all of that and if it actually played a role into this incident.’
The upcoming protest was initially to be called the Trans Day of Visibility but rebranded as ‘vengeance means fighting back with vehemence,’ the group said.
‘It is our battle cry to declare to the world that we the transgender/non-binary communities will neither be silenced nor eradicated.’
Distancing themselves from Hale, the group published a statement on their website ahead of the event: ‘We Tsukuru [co-founder], Our Rights DC, and TRAN are horrified at the acts of violence committed at the Covenant school on March 27, 2023.
‘We grieve for Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, William Kinney, Cynthia Peak, Katherine Koonce, and Mike Hill, and with their loved ones.
‘We also reject any connection between that horrific event and outs.
‘Vengeance means fighting back with vehemence. We are fighting against false narratives, criminalization, and eradication of our existence.’
TRAN also said that due to ‘hate received’ they had disabled their contact form.

Jury in Douglass Mackey Trial Tells Judge They Cannot Come to a Unanimous Decision

After the first full day of deliberations in the meme trial of Douglass Mackey, the jury sent a note saying that they had completed their deliberations and were unable to reach a unanimous decision as to his guilt.
“After the first full day of deliberations in the Douglass Mackey trial, the jury sent this note: ‘We have completed our deliberations and we have not reached a unanimous decision. Please advise.’ The judge sent them home for the night, told them to keep going in the morning,” the Daily News’ Brooklyn Court reporter John Annese reported.
“Brooklyn Federal Court Judge Ann Donnelly told the Mackey jurors, ‘This is actually not unusual. By our terms you’ve only been deliberating for a little while.’ She told them to take their time,” Annese continued.
Mackey, who was charged with election interference, has been on trial in the Eastern District of New York on federal charges. His alleged crime was making a meme in the lead up to the 2016 presidential election encouraging those who wished to vote for Hillary Clinton to do so via text.
The Department of Justice alleged that this constituted election interference, even though they were unable to provide evidence that anyone on Twitter was fooled by Mackey’s meme.
The defendant said that he wasn’t committing “election intereference” and was merely trying to make a viral meme. This he did. Hillary Clinton supporters posted similar memes suggesting that Trump supporters vote by text. These people were not arrested or charged by the DOJ.
Mackey, who went by Ricky Vaughn on Twitter, was arrested in January 2021 on the charge of “conspiring with others in advance of the 2016 US Presidential Election to use various social media platforms to disseminate misinformation designed to deprive individuals of their constitutional right to vote,” the DOJ said.
Early on in the trial, an expert witness for the defense withdrew from the trial after a reporter from the SPLC contacted him and asked, among other things, if his employer knew that he was testifying on Mackey’s behalf.

JPMorgan’s Jamie Dimon to Be Interviewed Under Oath in Epstein Case

JPMorgan Chase boss Jamie Dimon will be deposed under oath in connection with the bank’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, the late sex offender and a former client, a lawyer involved in the case said.
Reuters reports the interview is expected to happen in early May, according to Brad Edwards, a lawyer representing women who claim to have been sexually abused by Epstein.
The women are suing the largest U.S. bank for allegedly enabling the financier’s sex trafficking.
Epstein was a client from 2000 to 2013, with the last five years coming after he had pleaded guilty to a Florida prostitution charge.
JPMorgan is defending in Manhattan federal court two lawsuits seeking damages over its dealings with Epstein.
One involves a proposed class action by Epstein’s accusers and the other was brought by the U.S. Virgin Islands, where Epstein owned a home.
JPMorgan has tried to dismiss the lawsuit, noting the Virgin Islands government has already settled with Epstein’s estate for more than $100 million.
Earlier this month, a U.S. District Judge ordered JPMorgan to turn over documents from 2015 to 2019 – a period after which JPMorgan had dropped Epstein as a client.
The bank is also suing Jes Staley, a former private banking chief and later Barclays chief executive who had been friendly with Epstein.
JPMorgan wants Staley to reimburse it for eight years of compensation and damages it might incur in the other lawsuits.
Epstein killed himself in a Manhattan jail cell in August 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking.
The Financial Times earlier reported Dimon’s expected deposition.

Elon Musk, Apple Co-Founder and 1,000 Other Tech Leaders Sign Petition to Pause Further AI Developments

Elon Musk and 1,000 other technology leaders including Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak are calling for a pause on the ‘dangerous race’ to develop AI, which they fear poses a ‘profound risk to society and humanity’ and could have ‘catastrophic’ effects.
In an open letter on The Future of Life Institute, Musk and the others argued that humankind doesn’t yet know the full scope of the risk involved in advancing the technology.
They are asking all AI labs to stop developing their products for at least six months while more risk assessment is done.
If any labs refuse, they want governments to ‘step in’. Musk’s fear is that the technology will become so advanced, that it will no longer require – or listen to – human interference.
It is a fear that is widely held and even acknowledged by the CEO of AI – the company that created ChatGPT – who said earlier this month that the tech could be developed and harnessed to commit ‘widespread’ cyberattacks.
They say AI labs are currently ‘locked in an out-of-control race to develop and deploy ever more powerful digital minds that no one – not even their creators – can understand, predict, or reliably control.’
‘Powerful AI systems should be developed only once we are confident that their effects will be positive and their risks will be manageable,’ the letter said.
No one from Google or Microsoft – who are considered to be at the forefront of developing the technology – has signed on.
The list of signatories is also missing input from social media bosses or those who run Quora or Reddit, who are widely considered to have knowledge on the topic too.
The letter also detailed potential risks to society and civilization by human-competitive AI systems in the form of economic and political disruptions, and called on developers to work with policymakers on governance and regulatory authorities.
The letter comes as EU police force Europol on Monday joined a chorus of ethical and legal concerns over advanced AI like ChatGPT, warning about the potential misuse of the system in phishing attempts, disinformation and cybercrime.
Since its release last year, Microsoft-backed OpenAI’s ChatGPT has prompted rivals to launch similar products, and companies to integrate it or similar technologies into their apps and products.
Musk has been trying to stop – or at least stunt – the rapid growth of AI technology for years.
In 2017, Musk warned that humanity was ‘summoning the demon’ in its pursuit of the technology.
‘With artificial intelligence, we are summoning the demon.
‘You know all those stories where there’s the guy with the pentagram and the holy water and he’s like, yeah, he’s sure he can control the demon? Doesn’t work out,’ he said in an article for Vanity Fair.
Musk was one of the founders of OpenAI – the company that created ChatGPT – in 2015.
His intention was for it to run as a not-for-profit organization dedicated to researching the dangers AI may pose to society.
It’s reported that he feared the research was falling behind Google, and that Musk wanted to buy the company. He was turned down.
Now, its CEO Sam Altman – who has not signed on to Musk’s letter – says he is ‘openly attacking’ AI.
‘Elon is obviously attacking us some on Twitter right now on a few different vectors.
‘I believe he is, understandably so, really stressed about AGI safety,’ he said.
Altman says he is open to ‘feedback’ about GPT and wants to better understand the risks. In a podcast interview on Monday, he told Lex Friedman: ‘There will be harm caused by this tool.
‘There will be harm, and there’ll be tremendous benefits.
‘Tools do wonderful good and real bad. And we will minimize the bad and maximize the good.’
In an interview earlier this month, he said people had a right to be ‘a little bit scared’, and that he was too.
‘We’ve got to be careful here. I think people should be happy that we are a little bit scared of this.
‘I’m particularly worried that these models could be used for large-scale disinformation. Now that they’re getting better at writing computer code, [they] could be used for offensive cyberattacks,’ he said.

Humans Will Achieve Immortality in 8 Years: Ex-Google Engineer Has Predicted Future with Astonishing Accuracy

A former Google engineer has made a stark realization that humans will achieve immortality in eight years – and 86 percent of his 147 predictions have been correct.
Ray Kurzweil spoke with the YouTube channel Adagio, discussing the expansion in genetics, nanotechnology, and robotics, which he believes will lead to age-reversing ‘nanobots.’
These tiny robots will repair damaged cells and tissues that deteriorate as the body ages and make us immune to diseases like cancer.
The predictions that such a feat is achievable by 2030 have been met with excitement and skepticism, as curing all deadly diseases seems far out of reach.
Kurzweil was hired by Google in 2012 to ‘work on new projects involving machine learning and language processing,’ but he was making predictions in technological advances long before.
In 1990, he predicted the world’s best chess player would lose to a computer by 2000, and it happened in 1997 when Deep Blue beat Gary Kasparov.
Kurzweil made another startling prediction in 1999: he said that by 2023 a $1,000 laptop would have a human brain’s computing power and storage capacity.
Now the former Google engineer believes technology is set to become so powerful it will help humans live forever, in what is known as the singularity.
Singularity is a theoretical point when artificial intelligence surpasses human intelligence and changes the path of our evolution, LifeBoat reports.
Kurzweil, an author who describes himself as a futurist, predicted that technological singularity would happen by 2045, with AI passing a valid Turing test in 2029.
It is a test of a machine’s ability to exhibit intelligent behavior equivalent to, or indistinguishable from, that of a human
He said that machines are already making us more intelligent and connecting them to our neocortex will help people think more smartly.
Contrary to the fears of some, he believes that implanting computers in our brains will improve us.
‘We’re going to get more neocortex, we’re going to be funnier, we’re going to be better at music. We’re going to be sexier’, he said.
‘We’re really going to exemplify all the things that we value in humans to a greater degree.’
Rather than a vision of the future where machines take over humanity, Kurzweil believes we will create a human-machine synthesis that will make us better.
The concept of nanomachines being inserted into the human body has been in science fiction for decades.
In Star Trek, tiny molecular robots called nanites were used to help repair damaged cells in the body.
More than ten years ago, the US National Science Foundation predicted ‘network-enhanced telepathy’ – sending thoughts over the internet – would be practical by the 2020s.
‘Ultimately, it will affect everything,’ Kurzweil said.
‘We’re going to be able to meet the physical needs of all humans. We’re going to expand our minds and exemplify these artistic qualities that we value.’
The process began centuries ago with simple devices such as eyeglasses and ear trumpets that could dramatically improve human lives.
Then came better machines, such as hearing aids and devices that could save lives, including pacemakers and dialysis machines.
By the second decade of the 21st Century, we have become used to organs grown in laboratories, genetic surgery and designer babies.

James O’Keefe Uncovers Potential Money Laundering into Political Campaigns

O’Keefe Media Group (OMG) has uncovered possible widespread money laundering involving political campaigns across the United States.
According to Federal Election Commission (FEC) data, some senior citizens have been donating thousands of times per year, with certain individuals’ names and addresses linked to over $200,000 in contributions.
OMG founder James O’Keefe traveled to Annapolis, Maryland, to verify the data provided by citizen journalists from Election Watch in Maryland. O’Keefe spoke with several individuals whose names and addresses were associated with numerous donations, often in variations of their names and addresses.
The investigation found that many of these individuals were unaware of the extent of the contributions made in their names. Some admitted to donating small amounts occasionally, but the FEC data showed significantly higher numbers of donations and amounts.
For example, one individual allegedly contributed over 1,000 times to ActBlue in 2022, totaling $18,849.77. However, when confronted, the individual claimed to have only donated about $5 a month.
OMG is encouraging more citizen journalists to join their efforts in investigating this potential money laundering scheme. They provide support and resources for those interested in participating in this critical story.
A lawsuit has been submitted to the U.S District Court of Maryland regarding this issue by the Gibson Group and Maryland 2020 Watch. It remains unclear whether similar schemes are happening in other states.

Trump Hires Top Staffer from Jeb Bush Campaign

Former President Donald Trump is building his campaign team in New Hampshire by hiring key operatives, including Trevor Naglieri, a veteran of Jeb Bush’s 2016 campaign.
Naglieri will serve as Trump’s New Hampshire state director, working alongside former state GOP Chair Steve Stepanek, who has been appointed as a senior adviser. These staffing moves indicate Trump’s commitment to a strong campaign presence in the crucial first-in-the-nation primary state as he seeks the presidency once again.
Politico reported:
Donald Trump has tapped an operative to lead his 2024 efforts in New Hampshire. And for the role, he’s turned to a veteran of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush’s 2016 presidential bid.
Trevor Naglieri will serve as Trump’s New Hampshire state director, according to two GOP operatives familiar with the move.
Naglieri was a field coordinator for Bush in 2016 and went on to serve as New Hampshire field director and then national field director for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas). He most recently managed Pennsylvania Republican Jeremy Shaffer’s unsuccessful 2022 congressional bid. He also did stints at Republican consulting firm Axiom Strategies.
Naglieri is Trump’s second big hire in New Hampshire. Two months ago, POLITICO first reported that former state GOP Chair Steve Stepanek, a longtime ally, would serve as a senior adviser to the former president in the first-in-the-nation primary state. The two join Alex Latcham, one of Trump’s Iowa hires, who’s overseeing all early state operations.
New Hampshire handed Trump his first primary win in 2016 — in which he defeated both Bush and Cruz. But he went on to lose the state in both the 2016 and 2020 general elections.
The Naglieri hire further illustrates the dual tracks that Trump is currently on: moving aggressively on a third run for the White House while simultaneously battling legal woes on several fronts.

Pence Responds to Court Ruling Compelling Him to Testify on Trump

Former Vice President Mike Pence responded to the recent court ruling compelling him to testify about conversations surrounding the Jan. 6 Capitol protest. He insisted he has nothing to hide.
A federal judge ruled Tuesday that Pence must speak with a grand jury impaneled to aid in special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation of former President Donald Trump, CNN reported. Pence indicated that he will make a “decision in the coming days” about whether to challenge that ruling.
“Let me be clear: I have nothing to hide. I have a Constitution to uphold. I upheld the Constitution on Jan. 6. I believe we did our duty that day under the Constitution of the United States. And in this matter, I thought it was important that we stand on their constitutional principle again,” Pence told Newsmax’s The Record with Greta Van Susteren.
Pence had long sought to avoid testifying before the panel and had leaned on an argument that protections in the debate clause, which insulates congressional officials from legal scrutiny over their work, apply to the vice president. He also avoided testifying before the now-dissolved House Jan. 6 committee.
“I’m pleased that the court accepted our argument and recognized that the Constitution’s provision about speech and debate does apply to the vice president. But the way they sorted that out and the requirements of my testimony … are subject to our review,” he said. “We’re evaluating the court’s decision.”
Smith has been spearheading the Justice Department’s investigations of the Jan. 6 Capitol protest as well as the coinciding efforts to thwart the 2020 election and the Mar-a-Lago classified document ordeal concerning Trump. Pence has also been under scrutiny for classified documents after material was unearthed at his Indiana residence earlier this year.
Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Mark Warner (D-VA) and Vice Chairman Marco Rubio (R-FL) have voiced frustration with the intelligence community for not being more forthcoming about the nature of the documents that were found at the residences of Trump, Pence, and President Joe Biden.
“I would have no objection whatsoever to him seeing the documents,” Pence replied when asked. “Members of the Senate Intel Committee deal with classified documents on a regular basis, and the materials that were inadvertently packed and stored at my residence we discovered earlier this year. Out of an abundance of caution, we engaged in a review.”
“I’d be very, very happy to cooperate with any further inquiry from members of the Senate, and I look forward to putting this matter behind us in the near future,” he added.
Pence has been testing the waters for a possible 2024 presidential run, which would put him on a collision course with onetime boss Trump. He laid out “spring or early summer” as a time frame for his decision about whether to run and stressed that he is receiving an “awful lot of encouragement from around the country.”
He is currently running in third place in a hypothetical 2024 GOP primary, per the latest RealClearPolitics polling aggregate. Earlier in the day Tuesday, Pence delivered a keynote at Liberty University School of Law’s Consecration Service. He also has an eighth trip to Iowa scheduled for Wednesday following a recent stint in New Hampshire.

No Trump Grand Jury Indictment This Week

The grand jury hearing evidence in the Manhattan District Attorney’s investigation into former President Donald Trump will not sit on the case again this week, multiple sources told Fox News Tuesday.
A court administration source, and others, told Fox News the grand jury, which was expected to reconvene Wednesday, is done with the case until next week.
The secret grand jury wrapped its proceedings Monday afternoon without voting on Trump’s case, sources told Fox News on Monday. Those proceedings came after they were canceled twice last week by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg.
Bragg has been investigating the $130,000 hush-money payment that then-Trump lawyer Michael Cohen made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels, whose legal name is Stephanie Clifford. That payment was made in the weeks leading up to the 2016 presidential election in exchange for her silence about an alleged sexual encounter with Trump in 2006.
Cohen has said Trump directed the payments. Cohen paid Daniels $130,000 through his own company and was later reimbursed by Trump’s company, which logged the payments as “legal expenses.”
Trump has repeatedly denied wrongdoing with regard to the payments made to Daniels, and he has repeatedly said the payments were “not a campaign violation” but rather a “simple private transaction.”
The Trump Organization “grossed up” Cohen’s reimbursement for Daniels’ payment for “tax purposes,” according to federal prosecutors who filed the 2018 criminal charges against Cohen for the payments.
Federal prosecutors in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York opted out of charging Trump related to the Daniels payment in 2019, even as Cohen implicated him as part of his plea deal. The Federal Election Commission also tossed its investigation into the matter in 2021.
Over the weekend, Trump suggested the case had already been dropped against him.
“I think they’ve already dropped the case,” Trump told reporters aboard his plane after appearing at his first 2024 campaign rally in Waco, Texas.
“It’s a fake case,” he said. “Some fake cases, they have absolutely nothing.”
When asked for comment about Trump’s claim the case has been dropped, Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung told Fox News Digital: “This has been dropped because everyone knows this was a partisan witch-hunt by a radical, leftist DA that sought to politically weaponize the Justice system to influence an election.”
Meanwhile, Bragg has slammed House Republicans who have called for him to testify on Capitol Hill about the investigation.
“We evaluate cases in our jurisdiction based on the facts, the law, and the evidence. It is not appropriate for Congress to interfere with pending local investigations,” the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office said in a statement.
The office told Fox News Digital that Bragg stands by his previous pledge to publicly state the conclusion of the investigation, “whether we conclude our work without bringing charges, or move forward with an indictment.”
