Senator Mitch McConnell has suffered another nasty fall – just weeks after he took a tumble that left him bloody and bruised.
The 82-year-old was leaving Senate chambers on Wednesday when he fell down a flight of stairs, causing senators to rush over to help him.
McConnell, a survivor of childhood Polio, was helped up by Senators Steve Daines and Markwayne Mullin, according to Fox News.
The Kentucky senator reportedly walked it off and hasn’t confirmed any injuries.
He fell moments after he voted to confirm Scott Turner as the housing secretary.
The senator had a busy day as he also voted to confirm Donald Trump’s picks of Pam Bondi as attorney general, Chris Wright as energy secretary, and Doug Collins as secretary of veteran affairs.
The tumble comes weeks after McConnell’s last fall at a GOP lunch in December.
Medics were seen grabbing a wheelchair and racing to the senator’s office after he collapsed.
He sprained his wrist and suffered a cut to his face in the mishap.
He was pictured bloody and bruised with a bandage on his face after the fall.
It comes as McConnell has faced a concerning series of health battles in his final term in office.
After stepping down from his post as Republican Senate leader in November, McConnell has insisted he still plans to serve out his term – which ends in January 2027.
In March 2023, he suffered a concussion and a fractured rib after a terrifying fall at a dinner in Washington DC.
He was off work for six weeks after the injury.
Then disaster struck again in July 2023, when he froze for 19 seconds at a news conference in the Capitol.
During a briefing, he suddenly stopped speaking and stared straight ahead at assembled cameras and reporters.
An aide finally intervened, but it didn’t stop the public from raising concerns about the disturbing behavior.
Then in September 2023, McConnell’s staff released doctor’s notes saying the senator wasn’t showing any signs of seizure disorders, a stroke, or Parkinson’s disease.
Dr Brian Monahan, the attending physician of Congress, cleared McConnell to continue working.
