Nvidia Becomes World’s First $5T Company

Nvidia surged at the market open Wednesday, becoming the first company in history to be worth more than $5 trillion.

It became the first $4 trillion company less than four months ago.

That Nvidia added another $1 trillion in value in just over 100 days speaks to the absolute global frenzy for AI.

Not only do Nvidia’s chips power that historical shift — the company, as an investor, increasingly has a piece of all the other major players in the space, too.

Nvidia shares rose 3% at the open, taking the company to a real-time market capitalization of $5.05 trillion.

Going into Wednesday’s session, the stock was already up 50% in 2025, and nearly 1,500% over the last five years.

That’s helped propel CEO Jensen Huang into the ranks of the world’s 10 richest people, with Forbes estimating his worth north of $170 billion.

At $5 trillion, Nvidia is worth about $1 trillion more than the next-closest company, Microsoft.

Or put another way: Nvidia is worth roughly double JPMorgan Chase, Walmart, Exxon Mobil and Johnson & Johnson — combined.

It was only seven years ago that Apple became the first trillion-dollar company.

Now there are 10 of them, further evidence of how the AI mania has gripped investors, too.
