Rep. Jasmine Crockett Is Under Investigation Over ActBlue Donations

A conservative group filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission against Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) over ActBlue donations that allegedly violated federal election law.

The complaint, filed with the FEC late last month by the Coolidge Reagan Foundation, accuses the congresswoman’s campaign of failing to properly disclose a contributor’s identity and accepting contributions in the name of another.

ActBlue, a fundraising platform used by Democrats and Democrat-aligned groups, has been under intense scrutiny in the past year over allegations of donation fraud and “straw donors.”

The eight-page complaint alleges that Crocket’s campaign accepted a total of $610 from 56 separate transactions in 2023 and 2024 from a 73-year-old retiree who was allegedly unaware of the donations.

“The evidence suggests ActBlue has been providing thousands of dollars of contributions to Democratic candidates in the names of unsuspecting elderly people in order to allow recipients such as Rep. Crockett to shield the true source of the funds and potentially accept excessive or otherwise illegal contributions,” the complaint said.

“The Federal Election Commission (‘FEC’), on the basis of this clear evidence, should open an investigation into both Rep. Crockett and ActBlue’s larger scheme, which has been persuasively linked to money laundering for hundreds of millions of dollars to Democratic candidates,” the complaint added.

Dan Backer, the lawyer who filed the complaint for the Coolidge Reagan Foundation told the Washington Examiner the FEC had received the complaint and opened an investigation.

The FEC said it would not comment on “enforcement matters” until “those matters are resolved and closed.”

The group also filed complaints to the Department of Justice and Office of Congressional Ethics over the ActBlue allegations and claims of voter intimidation toward GOP voters.

Crockett, a Democratic firebrand in the House, has drawn criticism for several recent comments, including calling Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) — who uses a wheelchair after being paralyzed when a tree fell on him — “Governor Hot Wheels.” Her donors have also been under scrutiny.

ActBlue has been the subject of congressional investigations over the alleged use of “straw donors,” similar to the allegations in the complaint filed against Crockett.
