Trump Declares ‘Liberation Day’ and ‘Revolution of Common Sense’ in Second Inaugural Address

President Trump declared Monday “liberation day” for the country, vowing in a rousing inaugural speech that “the golden age of America begins right now.”

The 47th president — roundly repudiating the Biden administration’s lefty legacy and “many years” of a “radical and corrupt establishment’’ — promised to bring about a “revolution of common sense.

“From this moment on, America’s decline is over,” Trump, 78, told the packed crowd gathered inside the Capitol Rotunda for a pared-down event because of the dangerously cold weather outside.

“There’s no nation like our nation. Americans are explorers, builders, innovators, entrepreneurs and pioneers. The spirit of the frontier is written into our hearts,’’ Trump told the 600-person audience filled with a who’s who of the nation’s top political and business leaders.

“Our American ancestors … won the Wild West, ended slavery, rescued millions from tyranny, lifted millions from poverty, harnessed electricity, split the atom, launched mankind into the heavens and put the universe of human knowledge into the palm of the human hand,’’ he said in the eloquent address.

“If we work together, there is nothing we cannot do and no dream we cannot achieve.”

Trump used the event to tout his plans for a 180-degree course correction from retiring President Biden’s term.

He pledged to finally address the country’s border crisis, tamp down inflation, end costly green energy initiatives and restore national unity.

He also looked to the future, promising to right everything from discriminatory hiring practices to political prosecutions— and even vowed to put the first American astronauts on Mars.

“Our sovereignty will be reclaimed,’’ Trump said.

“Our safety will be restored. The scales of justice will be rebalanced. The vicious, violent and unfair weaponization of the Justice Department and our government will end.

“We are at the start of a thrilling new era of national success,’’ he said.

“We will pursue our manifest destiny into the stars, launching American astronauts to plant the Stars and Stripes on the planet Mars,’’ Trump added — prompting billionaire buddy and SpaceX founder Elon Musk, who was in the audience, to raise his arms in the air.

“But first, we must be honest about the challenges we face,’’ Trump said. “While they are plentiful, they will be annihilated by this great momentum that the world is now witnessing in the United States of America.

“As we gather today, our government confronts a crisis of trust,” the president said. “For many years, a radical and corrupt establishment has extracted power and wealth from our citizens while the pillars of our society lay broken and seemingly in complete disrepair.

“My recent election is a mandate to completely and totally reverse a horrible betrayal and all of these many betrayals that have taken place and to give the people back their faith, their wealth, their democracy and indeed, their freedom.”

Trump spoke after being sworn into office by US Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts around noon.

The incoming president shook Biden’s hand immediately after taking his oath — then launched into his speech promising a better four years than the previous ones.

Biden, 82, and Vice President Kamala Harris sat stone-faced just feet from Trump as the new president ripped Biden’s legacy and vowed to do everything in his power to reverse it.

Trump, in his 30-minute address under the iconic dome, called his comeback “proof that you should never believe that something is impossible to do in America.

“I have been tested and challenged more than any president in our 250-year history, and I’ve learned a lot along the way,’’ Trump said.

“The journey to reclaim our republic has not been an easy one,” he said.

“Those who wish to stop our cause have tried to take my freedom, and indeed, to take my life,” Trump said, referring to four criminal cases brought against him and assassination attempts.

“Just a few months ago, in a beautiful Pennsylvania field, an assassin’s bullet ripped through my ear, but I felt then and believe even more so now, that my life was saved for a reason. I was saved by God to make America great again.

“Our country will flourish and be respected again all over the world. We will be the envy of every nation, and we will not allow ourselves to be taken advantage of any longer,” Trump said.

“We stand on the verge of the four greatest years in American history.

“During every single day of the Trump administration, I will very simply put America first,’’ Trump said.

The event was capped by singer Carrie Underwood performing “America the Beautiful’’ a cappella because of a technical glitch with the music.

Also in the audience were Biden’s wife Jill and Harris’s husband, Doug Emhoff, as well as former Presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.

‘Revolution of Common Sense’ in first-day orders

Trump confirmed plans for a sweeping series of executive orders on his first day to curb illegal immigration, including restoring his “Remain in Mexico” policy for asylum seekers, which would mean they would have to wait across the border while their cases play out in US courts.

Trump also vowed to boost domestic energy production, bar “all government censorship” of political speech and rename the “Gulf of Mexico” the Gulf of America.

“I will send troops to the southern border to repel the disastrous invasion of our country,’’ he said.

“Under the orders I sign today, we will also be designating the cartels as foreign terrorist organizations,” Trump said, referring to a move that would mean much harsher penalties for involved criminals.

Trump also pledged to avoid US involvement in foreign wars, while pushing policy that “ expands our territory” — an apparent reference to his desire to acquire Greenland from Denmark and reacquire the Panama Canal.

“We gave it to Panama, and we’re taking it back,” Trump said of the canal.

He also trashed his predecessor’s management of last year’s hurricane damage in the Southeast and the still-raging wildfires in Los Angeles.

“We now have a government that cannot manage even a simple crisis at home, while at the same time stumbling into a continuing catalog of catastrophic events abroad,” he charged.

“[The US government] fails to protect our magnificent law-abiding American citizens but provides sanctuary and protection for dangerous criminals, many from prisons and mental institutions that have illegally entered our country from all over the world,” Trump went on.

“We have a government that has given unlimited funding to the defense of foreign borders but refuses to defend American borders, or, more importantly, its own people.

“Or more recently, Los Angeles, where we’re watching fires still tragically burn from weeks ago without even a token of defense,’’ Trump said.

“They’re raging through the houses and communities, even affecting some of the wealthiest and most powerful individuals in our country, some of whom are sitting here right now. They don’t have a home any longer. That’s interesting.”

‘Radical and corrupt establishment’

The populist 47th president tore into the country’s elite while pledging to set the country on a new fairer path.

Arrayed behind Trump were some of America’s wealthiest tech titans — many of whom were perceived as opposing the Republican during his first term before rushing to cozy up to him following his Nov. 5 election victory.

The guests of honor included Musk, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and TikTok CEO Show Chew.

Also present were former first lady Hillary Clinton, whom Trump defeated in 2016 to win his first term. Former Vice President Mike Pence, like Obama, arrived without his wife.

The inaugural crowd included Trump’s Cabinet secretary nominees and incoming officials, including White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, members of Congress from both parties and members of the Trump family.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams, podcaster Joe Rogan and Rupert Murdoch, the chairman emeritus of Fox Corporation and CEO of New Corp, which includes The Post, also attended — as did Argentinian President Javier Milei.
