Trump Threatens Soros and Son with RICO Charges

President Donald Trump warned Wednesday he is “watching” billionaire financier George Soros.

Trump wrote in a post on social media platform Truth Social that Soros and his “group of psychopaths,” which includes “Crazy, West Coast friends,” have caused “great damage” to the country. The New York Post reported earlier this month Soros’ foundation funded groups in recent years that have protested against the Trump administration, but The National News Desk could not confirm the tabloid’s findings.

“George Soros, and his wonderful Radical Left son, should be charged with RICO because of their support of Violent Protests, and much more, all throughout the United States of America,” the president said, referring to the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations statute. “We’re not going to allow these lunatics to rip apart America any more, never giving it so much as a chance to ‘BREATHE,’ and be FREE … Be careful, we’re watching you!”

A spokesperson for Soros’s nonprofit, Open Society Foundations, which is chaired by son Alex Soros, said in a statement to The National News Desk Trump’s accusations are false and outrageous.

“The Open Society Foundations do not support or fund violent protests. Our mission is to advance human rights, justice, and democratic principles at home and around the world,” the spokesperson said.

“We stand for fundamental freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution, including the rights to free speech and peaceful protest that are hallmarks of any vibrant democracy.”

Open Society Foundations gave a total of $4 million to Community Change and Community Change Action, organizations with a stated purpose of building the political “power” of low-income people of color, in 2023, the New York Post reported. Community Change and Community Change Action fund “Free DC,” an advocacy group that has staged protests against Trump.

On Tuesday, Open Society Foundations said in a statement it helps fund an “array” of nonprofits across the U.S. that “work to advance human rights, freedom, and justice and to defend democracy.” Some of the organizations “undertake peaceful civic engagement, which is critical to the strength of our democracy,” Open Society Foundations noted.

“We do not pay people to protest or directly train or coordinate protestors. All OSF grantees are required to comply with the law and we expect our grantees to uphold our shared commitment to human rights, dignity, and nonviolence,” the organization continued.

“The Open Society Foundations oppose all forms of violence, including violent protests.”
